I am amjams

My name is Ahmad Alsahaf, a computer scientist based in the Netherlands. A.M.J.A.M.S are the full initials of my very long Patronymic full name. When I was a young boy, my cousin and I thought it would be cool to figure out our respective Patronymic initials and pronounce them as acronyms, for example the way “UNESCO” is pronounced. Honestly, we might have invented the concept on our own, if my memory serves me right. Unfortunately for him, his initials had no syllables so they were difficult to acronymize. Amjams on the other hand had a nice ring to it, as we both agreed at the time, so I still find myself using it as a pseudonym nearly three decades later. Most people call me Ahmad or AJ though.

I made this website to showcase my interests and to have better visibility as a working scientist. It’s getting tough out here for us scientists, am I right? We need to be good at PR now.

In science, I am primarily an applied machine learning specialist with a focus on human-explainable models. Recently, through my postdoctoral work, I’ve developed a special interest in multi-modal medical imaging and spatial -omics of all sorts. See my CV page for more.

I also hope to share some of my writing, photography, and other creative pursuits here.
